Barton Hill House is proud to have recently opened a brand-new, purpose-built sixth form house for use only by those students studying in year 12 and 13.
Sixth Form at Barton Hill is a truly unique experience. We believe that studying at Shaftesbury School and living at Barton Hill should be in preparation for university and for life beyond. We understand that students in year 12 and 13 are more mature and have a different schedule from those in the lower school, which is why we allow them more freedom to make choices whilst still under supervision by house staff.

The new block has 24 single study rooms, all en suite, which can be reserved for an extra £500 per year. However, we do also allow all sixth form students to make the most of the new house.

The common room has a pool table and wide-screen TV and is a great spot for both study and play. You will often find students from all over the world conversing and working together in a bright, airy space that is conducive to establishing good study habits. There is also a student kitchen that the students themselves clean and take care of.

We are proud that our boarders regularly achieve some of the best results at the school and we know that in order to succeed they must feel at home. We run an academic day at the house until 3pm where students, if in the house, must use the time productively. Getting in to the right habits now can seriously benefit them in the long-term and we believe that this is vital to future success.
