“The Sixth Form promotes leadership, participation and teamwork, as well as academic success. There is a friendly and positive atmosphere, with enthusiasm to learn, to take part and to work hard coming from staff as well as students. This is what makes Sixth Form life at Shaftesbury so enjoyable and rewarding”.
Rag Day Fun Raises Cash For Charities
The Sixth Form held its Rag Day last Friday, raising a total of £2500 for its chosen charities in a day of fun and fancy dress.
Sixth formers and staff attended school in a myriad of fancy dress costumes, and the rest of the school wore mufti in exchange for a donation to charity. Entertainment throughout the day included a chance to gunge the teachers – Mr Hayes and new Head of Sixth Form Nick Baker were the unlucky ones. In the afternoon the whole school was treated to a staff version of ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ which saw several staff showing off their performing talents.
The sixth formers would like to thank all those who contributed to the total, including the shoppers and businesses of Shaftesbury, where the students were collecting during the day. The proceeds will be split between local charity Msaada, and Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
