Welcome to Shaftesbury, Dorset

Shaftesbury, Dorset, built 718 feet above sea level overlooking the picturesque and scenic Blackmore Vale is one of the oldest and highest towns in Britain. The town is perhaps most famous for Gold Hill, a steep cobbled street running from the town down to the bottom of the hill upon which Shaftesbury is built. Thousands of visitors attracted to this secluded part of the world each year are almost transported back in time with charming cobbled streets and beautiful historical buildings. That said, this busy market town has been transformed with many modern shops and cafes lining the scenic high street.
The town features many local shops and many more familiar to those from a bigger city. Tesco, Costa Coffee and Boots can all be found within the town centre, just a few minutes walk from Barton Hill, along with a number of restaurants.
For those wishing to visit Shaftesbury, you can rest assured that you will find accommodation ranging from simple Bed and Breakfast accommodation to The Royal Chase Hotel and the recently refurbished Hotel Grosvenor.
