Shaftesbury School maintains an excellent reputation for pastoral care. We understand the importance of a system that students can access during these exciting, yet challenging times at school and one that contributes in creating a safe and enjoyable place for students to thrive. We place great importance on developing resilience and self-esteem in all students, whilst at the same time promoting an environment where all students feel they belong, are valued and are listened to. The pastoral teams work together with parents, staff, students and external agencies to allow our young people to ‘be the best they can be’.
Pastoral Teams in Shaftesbury School
Our Pastoral Teams at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 are each led by a Year Leader, with a member of the Senior Team or Head of Sixth Form overseeing this. The teams have responsibility for the academic progress, behaviour and attendance of each student, whilst supporting wellbeing and providing pastoral care. They lead a dedicated and committed team of tutors who see their tutor groups each morning 08.30-8.40 and then again at 13.35-14.00. The tutor is the day-to-day contact for all students and stand as the primary link between parents and school.
