The Public Sector Equality Duty requires all schools to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between people.
The Equality Act 2010 lists ‘gender reassignment’ and ‘sexual orientation’ as protected characteristics. As a school we have a duty to make sure that our students are not discriminated against because they are LGBTQ+.
As a Church of England school, we know that many people of faith are also LGBTQ+, and do not feel that the two are in opposition. It’s vital for us as a faith and church school that we ensure LGBTQ+ people of faith don’t face extra stigma for being who they are.
