Sociology looks at people, their experiences and behaviours; how they live their everyday lives, the way those lives are influenced by society and how individuals can influence society. Studying Sociology will help you understand your own experiences and those of others, encouraging you to look at issues from different perspectives before moving towards an informed view. This course covers theories and research relating to family, education, science, beliefs, and crime and deviance.
The course combines well with Health & Social Care, Psychology and Philosophy.
Entry Requirements and Skills needed: Grade 4 in English. You will need to be interested in people and be prepared to discuss and listen critically.
Assessment: Assessment will be through 100% examination. There will be 3 papers each lasting 2 hours.

Year 2: Crime and Deviance, Theory and Methods, Beliefs in Society
Progression: A Level Sociology provides a good foundation for further study of Sociology and related subjects at University. Universities particularly recognise the research skills developed during the study of this subject at A Level.
