We are delighted to share our glowing Ofsted report!

We are delighted to have received a fantastic report from Ofsted following their recent inspection. Ofsted praised leaders, staff, the school’s pastoral care, positive relationships, and the wide range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities offered to students.

“Pupils at Shaftesbury School are encouraged to be ‘the best they can be’…and have positive relationships with their teachers” says the report, before going on to say that staff “encourage pupils to think deeply about what they are learning” and that “staff ensure that pupils feel safe and happy”.

Our school’s curriculum was highlighted as a strength, with Ofsted saying “leaders design the curriculum so that pupils learn a broad range of subjects. Pupils benefit from a curriculum that has a strong academic core, as well as vocational courses”.Our extra-curricular efforts were praised, with inspectors saying “the school offers an impressive range of activities to develop pupils’ talents and interests. Pupils enjoy attending clubs for sports, music, and the arts. Trips, visits, and community engagement projects are a regular feature of the school week”.

The Sixth Form was another area of success, with the report saying students “develop a rich understanding of their A level subjects…and learn to work independently and use their time well”. They also have the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the school, working with staff to ensure younger pupils have a ‘voice’ in school improvement.

We are delighted to have been rated as ‘Good’ in every category in the new report.

Headteacher Donna London-Hill said:

I am extremely proud of our students, staff and the wider school community who have all worked tirelessly to ensure that our school provides the very best education for our children. The report recognises the high quality of teaching, the excellent behaviour of our students and the supportive ethos of our school. It also highlights the outstanding progress our students are making in all areas of the curriculum.

The inspectors certainly recognised that at Shaftesbury School we continue to endeavour to ‘be the best we can be’ and we feel that the inspection team were able to capture our ethos during their time with us. We will continue to build on our success and ensure that our students receive an education that prepares them for the challenges of the future”.
