Summer Tasks & Year 12 Induction Pack
The information below is for students starting Year 12 in September 2024. The page will be updated for September 2025 starters in July.
Summer Tasks
This section contains materials posted by Sixth Form subject departments as introductory or wider reading and other materials and tasks which will help you prepare for Sixth Form Study. Some departments have set work for you to complete over the summer to bring to your first lesson.
One of the main differences between GCSE and Sixth Form courses is that to do well at A Level and BTEC you must do more than just the classwork and homework your teacher sets you. Independent learning is essential to get top grades. Getting started early is a great way to make sure you hit the ground running in September and the summer holidays are a great time to do some reading and start thinking about some of the topics you will be studying. However, if you are reading this later in the year, remember it is never too late to start!
